26 Tips to keep your PC in good health (all good?)
February 6, 2007 2:00 pm I read a few days ago this post on Lifehack that I found very interesting .. 26 things to do (divided by frequency) to keep your PC at peak performance
Let's look a bit (so you also translates into Italian as there are) and perhaps with some additional information ... arricchiamole brackets.
To installing the system
1. Install a UPS and / or a voltage limiter
2. Register software purchased
3. Configuring Windows (if you use Windows) to automatically download updates
4. Read the user manual of the system, especially the part related to maintenance
5. Set the email to automatically archive old messages (I have my doubts .. depends on the application used)
6. Install an antivirus (before connecting to the internet, please ...)
7. Install an anti-advertising (mmmh.. .. If anything questionable install a firewall and an anti-spyware)
8. Place the device drivers in a purse protected (useless to me .. the drivers are updated frequently impressive)
Every week
1. Run a scan disk to check the status of Dishi fixed (every week it seems a bit much ..)
2. Run a defragmentation program (only on Windows, Linux does not help. .. And here every week?)
3. Run a clean up script to delete unused files (yes, but a decent cercatene .. the default for Windows is a ciofeca!)
4. Make a backup of your files
5. Empty the trash (once a week? Every day I would say ...)
6. Delete temporary files from the Internet
7. Delete your browser history (dipende.. If you are not then do it ..)
8. Deleting cookies (missing idea! Cookies are used by some sites to recognize you in the process of access .. so if you're like me, who often used the "remember me" then do not delete cookies. I'll bring me back too When to Reinstall ...)
9. Aggioranre the antivirus (virus have many auto-update)
10. Run a full scan with your antivirus (once a week .. depends .. is an heavy and may not make sense to do it so frequently)
Monthly
1. Check for update (ecco.. Bischerate with all that make you do every week, this once a month? See once a week if not more)
2. Delete or uninstall programs that are not used
Every forty days
1. Clean the keyboard
2. Clean your monitor
3. Clean the peripherals (printer, mouse, gamepad etc..)
4. Recreating the desktop (I've just realized that means ..)
5. Change all passwords (beware of the other post about passwords .. which is better)
Annually
1. Renew the licenses for the software update and the antivirus (or take a free antivirus ...)
Remember .. not all gold that glitters is not all good ... and what comes out lifehacker!
Honestly in my list of 26 tricks, many of these, would disappear to make room for more important things .. how can you not write that a clean PC before connecting to the internet is a firewall and antivirus? Especially if you connect with Windows XP and you still download SP2 ...
