I leave a few brief news / good utlity to spend the weekend.

  • Problems speed of your connection? Take a look at TCP Analyzer for SpeedGuide: maybe find a way to improve your connection. If any parameter is changed, always SpeedGuide offers a simple interface to do this, TCP Optimizer . I thank Mike Smith of Mike Tech Show podcast for reporting. On the last episode of MTS Mike talks about these two utilities and tips on how to optimize your connection.
  • Google has finally released its online Office, called Google Docs . It 'consists of a word processor and a Spreadsheet that you can use online from any PC and allows you to share your documents with others. The basic functionality is there, but is still far away from Microsoft Office or Open Office.
  • I found a nice site that allows you to find music similar to what you like: MusicMap .
  • If you need to change your partitions, there is an open source solution that can be used instead of commercial products, GParted . Functionality depends on the type of partition on which you work, and a full list can be found here . The very nice thing is that you can download a LiveCD directly from the site from which to boot and your changes. A review can be found on the Computer Point .
  • Qualcomm has announced an open source version of Eudora for spring 2007. For those who do not know, Eudora is a mail client highly respected for its functionality for productivity. The open source version you will support the core of Thunderbird, and development will be followed by Modzilla foundation.
  • If you like Linux, look at the draft Portland . GNOME and KDE finally converge.
  • The project
VoxForge could contribute to the development of open source applications for voice recognition. We'll see.

Good weekend.
