Netvibes Ginger: impressions.
January 31, 2008 10:28 am Through the alleys of the old Taranto, gulping a bottle of beer Raffo ... quiet, you have the wrong blog today, courtesy of Andrew, the microphones of Nissardo blog there's me, Frankie, to talk about the new version of Netvibes Ginger codename .
The new features are few and incorporate ideas already seen elsewhere, Let's look in detail:
- Favorites

The iconcina star-shaped with the "+" allows you to add the selected item as a favorite: private archive or to use as reminders and to create a public cronostoria available from the new menu at the top of the page.
- Activities

In this area are listed the activities undertaken by us and you can also follow those of our friends. In particular, Friends activity feels much the lack of what I consider the greatest strength of Netvibes: Information on how many items have not been read / considered.
- Network

In Network (Contacts in Italian) is a list of their friends and who has shown interest in the universe you created. A feeble attempt to create a social network? Knows.
- Profile

In the profile is the ability to set our status, a feature that we have learned to know the messenger: a learned quotation, our thoughts, an ad will be read by our friends in the task pane.
In addition to the features described here in the official blog of Netvibes is also referred to:
- Premium Widgets: UWA type modules that aggregate more than a feed of the same type (eg all categories of news ANSA). Since the modules can be used regardless of whether you use Ginger or not.
- Listen to webradio: functionality previously existing in the MP3 player built with Flash technology and exploited in an ingenious form from the developer of Web Radio Player. This too is a module that requires no Ginger.
- 2GB of free storage space: the features that happened to be the most interesting, unfortunately, begins with a black and white iconcina shaped folder with the disappointing commentary coming soon.
In conclusion, this new version adds nothing innovative ideas are good but the base is implemented badly missing the definition of a clear goal, it seems to take a stand to become a social network but is still much work to do and there is the problem of not having any notifications (style numeretto feeds) to be informed about what people do that we have defined them as friends (for obvious you can use the method geek, or create a contact by entering the feed of Friends, which provides netvibes who have an account Ginger).
To me it is not really like this new version, you?
PS. To test it you can request an invitation on ginger.netvibes.com.
